From several decades of rich experience in holding busy, stressful positions including the highest in the Indian Administrative Services, Poornalingam had many occasions to handle “change” in the organisations he headed that too within a short tenure of about two years in addition to handling changes of governments inherent in a democratic system.
All through his distinguished career, he has earned the admiration and reputation for efficiently running complex organisations and bringing about remarkable change in their functioning, leaving his permanent imprint on them. Conscious that time available was short in any job, he focused on priorities and speedy execution to achieve results in the short time.
In this book, which is based on his experience, he describes the lasting change Ram, the protagonist, could bring about in the health sector by setting up a new Corporation that has become a model for health systems in the country and outside.
Even after retirement from active Government service, Poornalingam is much sought after for his contributions to the health sector; he has been assisting many state governments and national governments to bring about change in their health systems.
He is a Hubert Humphrey scholar, with degrees in Electrical Engineering, Law, and Economics. He has authored three other books, “Energising your power utility”, “Management by Listening” and “Your 27 hour day”.
